Early Life
On 7th February, 1978, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, U. S., Diane and Larry M. Kutcher welcomed their son Christopher Ashton Kutcher into this world. His father was a factory worker, and his mother was a Procter & Gamble employee. Kutcher has Czech, German, and Irish ancestry. He was raised in conservative Catholic family. He has two silblings: an older sister Tausha, and a fraternal twin brother Michael. His brother has had health issues since they were children, including having a heart transplant, and having cerebral palsy.
Kutcher attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, but continued his education at Clear Creek Amana High School when his family moved to Homestead, Iowa. When he was 16 years old, his parents got divorced. Kutcher was convinced of third-degree burglary during his senior year, for breaking into high school in an attempt to steal money. In 1996, he enrolled at the University of Iowa.
During that time, he was approached by a model scout at The Airliner bar in Iowa City. He won the 1st place at the Fresh Faces of Iowa modeling competition. He also won a trip to New York City’s International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) Convention. This made him leave University of Iowa, and go to New York City.
Career
In 1998 Kutcher participated in an IMTA competition, and then signed with Next modeling agency in New York. He modelled in Paris and Milan, and also appeared in commercials for Calvin Klein. Same year, he was cast as Michael Kelso in the popular television series That ’70s Show.
Kutcher starred in some comedy films, including Dude, Where’s My Car (2000), Just Married (2003), Cheaper By The Dozen (2003), Guess Who (2005), and other. In 2004, he played the main role in science fiction thriller film The Butterfy Effect. The film was a box office success. A year before that, he produced and starred as a host in hidden camera-practical joke reality television program which aired on MTV, Punk’d. There were other reality television shows he produced, including Beauty and the Geek, Adventures in Hollyhood, and The Real Wedding Crashers.
In 2011, Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen on the series Two and a Half Men. Two years before that, he and his then-wife Demi Moore established an international human rights organization, DNA Foundation, later known as Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children, which works to address the sexual exploitation of children.
