The NTA (National Testing Agency) is going to conduct the JEE main almost twice a year from 2019. Recently, HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar has announced that the national level engineering examination is going to be held twice a year by the new testing agency.
The reason behind the JEE mains twice a year
The JEE mains or Joint Entrance Examination will be online. As the announcement came out recently, an ample amount of mixed reactions have been received from both the parents and students. In fact, a lot of people out there have shared their opinion regarding this on social media. People are still confused whether this is a curse or a blessing. Along with thousands of candidates, sharing opinions on social media, the National Testing Agency is going to observe if the change acts as the lifeline or becomes a stress for the aspirant.
In fact, Prakash Javadekar, the Union Human Resource Development Minister has announced that a lot of students out there are not happy with their performance sometimes, and then they opt for the next year to give the exam again. And that is why the minister has cleared a fact if a student is disappointed with the result, and then they will not have to wait for the next year rather they would be able to give the exam again on the same year. They will get time to prepare themselves properly for the mains. They will be able to try their luck once more, once they are unsatisfied with their JEE main results by Neostencil and performance. Along with JEE mains, they are going to conduct more exams like UGC NET (National Eligibility Test), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test and GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test).
Who will benefit from the decision?
A lot of people out there are calling this specific verdict “student-friendly.” In fact, they are thinking that most of the students are going to take the exam twice. And the students who are disappointed for the very first time they are giving JEE mains, they can hope to get a better score next time. Besides, there are a lot of people who prepare for both medical and engineering entrances.
First, hundreds of engineering colleges across the nation struggle to fill up their seats. So austere is the situation that states like Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan do not want any new technical organizations to be set up. And if the exam happens twice a year, they are going to get more takers.
Second, the coaching centers are going to have an open field to play. As the entrance tests get the new custody, the format is also going to change. Each and every test will be there online. Students will also have the flexibility to select a reliable and convenient date, and there will be various sets of questions.
Third, in the year of 2017, the Union Cabinet has accepted the formation of the National Testing Agency as the self-directed and self-sustained premier testing organization. The educationist appointed by MHRD will chair this. They will offer the one-time grant of Rs. 25 crores to start its operation. The agency will turn out to be self-sustainable as well.
Almost 40 lakh students out there appear in the various examinations. And if JEE mains happen twice a year, it will be helpful for them.
